Flora Alpina
It draws inspiration from the vital role flowers play in sports, medicine, and culture — creating an aesthetic, immersive and ever-evolving experience that responds to its surroundings. Flora Alpina is both a reaction to a difficult global context and an invitation to take a pause, to make space for poetry, light, and beauty through a dreamlike nature.
FLORA ALPINA is an ode to the Swiss landscape and the traditional Swiss popular craftsmanship. The graphic design draws on the Grisons cross-stitch, a traditional motif that represents both the resilience and elegance of Swiss culture. It celebrates the Games as a centuries-old popular gathering and a moment of unity across nations. The endurance and resilience of Alpine plants and flowers echo the spirit of athletes. Their historical use in healing remedies makes them a powerful symbol of strength and renewal. And in culture, they embody beauty, tradition and connection — bridging past and present.
« Flowers are simply beautiful. But they are also much more. They symbolise generosity and bring joy. We use them to welcome, greet and celebrate. At the Olympic and Paralympic Games, medals are usually accompanied by a bouquet of flowers. And they have no borders — they travel, they connect. We felt they were the most fitting symbol for this House of Switzerland », Daniel Zamarbide, architect and scenograph of the House of Switzerland Italia in Milan.
In Milan, at the Centro Svizzero, this vision will come to life in the form of an ephemeral alpine garden in the courtyard, a nature-inspired sanctuary celebrating Swiss and international athletes and offering a place to recharge, relax and reconnect. Outside and inside the restaurant, mirrored glass will reveal a collection of alpine miniatures, inviting passers-by in Milan to see themselves reflected in this universe. In Cortina d'Ampezzo, FLORA ALPINA will shape the Swiss hospitality experience, inspiring the culinary concept and welcoming atmosphere.
